CIO History

CIO began in late 1994 as Systems Integration, Inc (SI). After years of building a solid foundation using contract consultants, SI hired its first employees in 1997 and has been growing ever since. Building on a solid rate of 25-50% growth each year since its inception, in May of 1999 the company decided it was time to more accurately define its place in the market by renaming the company to CIO, Inc. CIO is derived from the corporate executive title of Chief Information Officer which clearly defines our place in the market as a resource and leader of technology for our clients.

In the role of Chief Information Officer, CIO is responsible for providing our clients with direction, support, and leadership in their implementation of technology. As our client's technology leader/partner, we provide advice on what to purchase, install and support those recommendations, and continue to consult on future technologies and changes in the market.

In October 2001, CIO entered the business telephony arena enhancing our goal of providing a total technology solution for our clients. Despite the slowing economy, CIO was named the 18th Fastest Growing Company in 2002 by the Kansas City Business Journal and we continue to build on that success.

In October 2005, CIO was purchased by Brown and Sharpe Services Inc. and Jim Brown our CEO manages the day to day operations. Jim's experience as a CIO for large Service Industry Corporation's will add a new equation to what CIO has to offer. This experience will add an on-the-job look at how to use technology and use it cost effectively. Today, CIO stands stronger and more dedicated than ever to help you with your computer, network, and telephony challenges.
